I was born and raised in Southern California about 30 minutes away from Disneyland (Whittier to be exact). In 2008, my parents and I moved up to Northern California (in the Bay Area) for a job promotion my mom got. It was exciting at the time but I always missed my friends and family in Southern California but after a while, the Bay Area started to feel like home. I got a job working as a teacher’s assistant at a preschool (I’ve been working in the childcare field since 2006) and in 2011, I got my AA in Early Childhood Development. By that time, I had started working as an office manager at a daycare and loved that job.
In April of 2014, my dad passed away from a heart attack. It was totally unexpected as he was not sick or anything. My dad always hated hospitals so going quick like that was what he would have wanted. We cremated him and scattered his ashes off the coast of Santa Cruz. My mom and I continued working and living our lives as hard as it was. In February of 2015, we went to Maui with my aunt and uncle and it was such an amazing trip that I will never forget. In April of 2015, my mom started to become sick. She stopped working at the end of April and we had plans to move back down to Southern California at the end of August. At the end of July, my mom was hospitalized for the second time in 2015. She was there for 3 weeks and on August 10, 2015 she was reunited with my dad. Losing both parents in the span of a year and a half is one of the hardest things someone can go through, especially being in my twenties. However, instead of letting this situation make be depressed and sad, I’m choosing to live life to the fullest and live life how my parents would’ve wanted me to. I am moving back down to Southern California (Irvine) and decided to go back to school. Since everything has happened, I also decided that I wanted to change careers. You can read all about that decision here. I’m ready for this next adventure. At this point, whatever life throws me… I feel I can handle!
Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to adopt and this year I started the process of adopting through foster care! You can read all about that here but the blog will now include a lot of information on that and adopting. I’m excited for the process and can’t wait to document it with you all!
