So I was commenting on a blog that had started a 52 week blog challenge. I decided to Google one myself and found this one. It’s from an old blog but I decided to try and do it myself. I may not end up doing every prompt, but at least it’s a good place to get ideas from. (click the image to the left to see the full size and join in with me!)
So for the first week I bring you my best friend. In all honesty, I don’t have many friends but that friends I do have, I cherish. Some of my best friends would be A and Nikki, but the friend I consider my closest best friend would be Kathleen.
I met Kathleen in high school (I believe it was senior year) but we had been going to the same school since we were in 6th grade. I so wish I had met her sooner because that would have given me more time with her, but I’m grateful we did meet when we did. We had mutual friends and that’s when we started hanging out. Eventually those mutual friends stopped hanging out with us and it was just us two. I remember when we were first hanging out and doing things and realizing how much we had in common; it was crazy.
It’s been about 10 years since we’ve been friends and we are still going strong. I got to be a part of her wedding and she was there for me when I lost my dad and then my mom. I appreciate her being there for me, no questions asked, when no one else could or would. She hopped on a plane or drove here (both times) if I asked her too and that was something no one else did for me. One of the reasons I moved back down here was so we could be close again; but even when I lived up north, we still made an effort to see each other at least twice a year. It’s crazy though now, because now that I know she’s close, I miss her if I don’t see her for a week (when before it’d be twice a year!).
I’m so grateful that I met her and that she will be a part of my life forever. Love you and thanks so much for everything, Kath!
